It is perfectly true, as philosophers say, that life must be understood backwards.
But they forget the other proposition, that it must be lived forwards.
And if one thinks over that proposition it becomes more and more evident
that life can never really be understood in time
because at no particular moment can I find the necessary
resting place from which to understand it.

Coffee: Induces wit... take it without sugar—very swank:
gives the impression you have lived in the East. Gustave Flaubert
It is inhumane, in my opinion, to force people who have a genuine medical need for coffee
to wait in line behind people who apparently view it as some kind of recreational activity.
I bet this kind of thing does not happen to heroin addicts.
I bet that when serious heroin addicts go to purchase their heroin,
they do not tolerate waiting in line while some dilettante in front of them orders a hazelnut smack-a-cino with cinnamon sprinkles.

I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.

~ On the strength and beauty of the individual soul ~
In the last analysis, the essential thing is the life of [the] individual. This alone makes history, here alone do the great transformations take place, and the whole future,
the whole history of the world, ultimately springs as a gigantic
summation from these hidden source[s] in individuals.
Carl Gustav Jung
