Artist's Statement:
This painting was one of two offered to a Jewish bride for her fall wedding, to be
printed on the chuppah – the ceremonial cloth and the four poles which hold it up
and envelop the bridal party during the ceremony. Amidst woods turned into autumn gold,
the road suggests the thought for such an occasion – the journey together begins.

Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower; but only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.
Robert Frost
Nothing Gold Can Stay
Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird
I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
