Tulips in Cornwall

Updated: Sep 13, 2021

Artist's Statement

I traveled to the south of England, visiting a few castles and manors scattered about. In one manor in Cornwall I walked into an elegantly decorated and furnished dining room. On the highly polished table stood a tall vase of orange, red and yellow tulips. I loved the light and shadow play from the window, reflected onto the table. This was a lovely quiet moment that I tried to capture in oil.

A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone.

It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose.

It doesn’t have to. It is different.

And there’s room in the garden for every flower.
